Shallow Water Bog/ Plants grow best in water 1” to 4” above their soil.   Some grow very fast and will need repotting every year.   Some grow much slower and may be left in their container for several years.   For best growth insert one fertilizer tablet every month just under the soil on the edge of the pot from April to July.

Lotus can only be purchased bare root in its doormat state in January- April.

They may be purchased potted at any time of the year.   Containers have no holes are large enough to be a stand alone if water is maintained in them or can be placed in a pond.   If allowed to ramble, one lotus tuber can fill a 72’ diameter in one season; a child’s swimming pool with 3 to 4 inches of rich clay and 1 to 6 inches of water will provide a massive plant that will truly surprise you.  Fertilize heavily to maintain good bloom and color.  Fertilizer tablets should be pushed in top soil every month from April to July.

Floating Aquatic Plants

Submersible Oxygenating Plants

Cabomba

Anacharis

Cabomba and Anacharis are submerged oxygenating plants.  They both play a vital role in balancing the ecology of a pond by competing with algae for dissolved nutrients and carbon dioxide.
